Stairway to Heaven

We hiked Stairway to Heaven yesterday. 4,000 steps up the Ko'olau Mountains. It was amazing. Our camera didn't do the views any justice. It was spectacular.

Beginning of the hike. This is a shot of the highway, which is already pretty high.

Not quite to the first landing, which is 1/3 of the way up. Notice how far above the highway we already are!
We made it....1/3 of the way, that is!
Taking a rest in an old bunker.

Heading into heaven. (And no...that's not the top you can see up there. It's WAY further up. It's just covered in fog.)
The summit!
We were so tired at the top, but Zach still found the energy to hold up this satellite all by himself. And Steve went up to help, but the wind just ended up blowing him away.

Heading down...watch that step, it could be a REAL duesy!

  1. All of those faces I had in the pictures were faces of pain and agony. Let's just say you need to be in some type of physical shape to do this hike, I was not! The way down from "Heaven" (if that's what you want to call it) was a lot more pleasant. My conclusion is I can think of a completely opposite name for this Hike, than "the Stairway to Heaven"!!! ( I'll let you use your imagination.) All joking aside...the views were unbeatable, and I would be more apt to do it again when the name gets changed to "the Escalator (or Ride) to Heaven." I mean where does it say anywhere that we have to work to get to Heaven?
